Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need Altitude Water to deliver our household water? What is wrong with the water I get from my tap?

Arrow

Numerous articles have been written warning about the amount of impurities and
contaminates that are in public drinking water supplies as well as the
vulnerability of public water supplies to terrorist attack. We have spent
centuries following the engineer’s creed that the solution to pollution is
dilution. Our aquifers and reservoirs are now contaminated with harmful chemicals,
pesticides and pharmaceuticals.

In addition to the water itself, the piping system of municipal sources are
antiquated and in most cases over a century old (Remember Flint Michigan?). This
also increases the opportunity for contaminates to be in your water through the
infrastructure.

There are also numerous water main breaks that result in municipal water not being
able to deliver water to your home. Fort Lauderdale was recently without water for
48 hours due to a water main break.

Here are just a few recent articles about tap and well water in the State of
Florida:

The only way to be certain that your drinking water is pure and safe and that you
have access to safe water- no matter if the municipal system goes down- is to have
it delivered to your home by Altitude Water.

What about bottled water in the store? Isn't that safe and pure?

Arrow

Other articles have been published revealing that some bottled water is really
only reprocessed tap water. Some government studies have shown over 30% of the
bottled water tested to be unsafe for humans.

Again, here is a good article about where most bottled water comes from-
“Therefore, their assertion about contaminants in bottled water relates to the
approximately 45% of bottled waters on the market that are from municipal
water sources.

Finally, Trident Water bottles in sustainable packaging (glass and wood crates)
and not in plastic. This is better for you and the environment. We have all seen
the data about what these plastic bottles are doing to our planet. Additionally,
the plastic bottles release chemicals into the water that are not safe for human
consumption.

Is water produced by Altitude Water using a Pure Water Generator better than bottled water or tap water?

Arrow

Unequivocally YES!!! Water produced by a Altitude Water AWG is the best water on earth. Bottled water in many cases is filtered city water processed in a
manufacturing plant. Other bottled water is “spring” water and there are no
guarantees that it is truly pure and contaminant free. The contaminants in tap
water and bottled water they are trying to remove are never in Altitude’s water.
Again – Altitude Water is bottled in glass which is a far safer container then
plastic.

How does the Altitude Water AWG work?

Arrow

Altitude Water AWG machines extract moisture from the atmosphere through a
condensation process similar to a dehumidifier-except our coils are coated with a
Food Grade coating, so the condensing water never touches metal.

Is Altitude Water Really Pure?

Arrow

Yes, the water is absolutely pure, safe and clean, as well as great tasting. The
water that is produced starts out pure as it is the vapor/humidity in the air that
converts from a gas form to a liquid form; rather than dirty, contaminated ground
water that needs to be purified. The purification system that keeps the water pure
(EnviroGuard) is extremely effective and efficient and utilizes multiple
safeguards especially Ozone to oxidize and eradicate any bacteria that tries to
form in stored water. Ozone is 35 times more powerful than chlorine and can kill
pathogens (harmful organisms) in seconds rather than minutes. Ozone was discovered
in 1840 and by the 1890’s was recognized as a safe and effective oxidizing agent
for water purification.

Ozone is also naturally occurring (a gas naturally produced on our planet) where chlorine is a chemical that is left in the water for you to consume. Finally, ozone converts into oxygen so you are drinking the purest oxygenated water on the market.

Is taking water from the atmosphere harmful to the environment?

Arrow

Not at all! Water is constantly evaporating into the air. We condense humidity
every day using dehumidifiers and air conditioning systems in homes, buildings and cars – that moisture is then returned to the atmosphere when it evaporates.

It is actually much safer for the environment then draining our aquifers and
having the salt water intrusion we are seeing in Florida.

What happens to the environment if we take all of the water out of the air?

Arrow

Due to the water cycle and the way the earth was created this is not possible.
Water is constantly evaporating into the atmosphere. The water cycle has been
working to replenish our water since the beginning of time. We have no less water
in the atmosphere today then we did before the invention of air conditioning

Is there enough water in the air to produce water every day?

Arrow

There are 3.8 quadrillion gallons of water in the atmosphere at any given time.

Can I really get pure drinking water from air that may have many impurities in it?

Arrow

Absolutely! First, the properties of water and the water cycle show that water is
pure when it goes from a gas form to a liquid form. None of the contaminates in
the air affect this process. Once the water is in the liquid form; The Altitude
Water EnviroGuard process of air and water purification systems removes
particulate matter smaller than .01 microns.

What about bacteria or other germs?

Arrow

The Altitude Water EnviroGuard process utilizes Ozone (Natures Cleanser) to
eliminate any microorganisms, including bacteria and viruses. Ozone has been used for over 100 years to purify water and is accepted by the United States Public Health Service as a standard methodology for water treatment. Test results of water generated from the atmosphere by Altitude Water AWG technology has been measured and shown the water to be fresh and clean, far exceeding EPA
requirements.

What is ozone, how is it stored in the machine?

Arrow

Ozone is a natural gas composed of three atoms of oxygen. Its chemical symbol is
O₃ (Oxygen is O₂). Ozone disinfection, or ozonation is one of the most powerful
water purifiers. Ozone is an unstable molecule which readily gives up one atom of
oxygen providing a powerful oxidizing agent which is toxic to most waterborne
organisms (After giving up 1 Oxygen atom it becomes O₂ or Oxygen). It is a very
strong, broad spectrum disinfectant that is widely used in Europe and in a few
municipalities in the United States and Canada. Ozone has been used in drinking
water plants since 1906 where the first industrial ozonation plant was built in
Nice, France. The FDA has accepted ozone as being safe and effective. Ozone is
created in our machine using a Corona Discharge ozone generator. It is created
exactly the same way nature makes ozone by adding an electrical charge to oxygen.

How does the cost and quality of bottled water compare with Altitude Water's AWG water?

Arrow

The Altitude Water PWG units produce better quality water economically. While it costs more to generate pure water from the air compared to taking water out of the tap and filtering it-we offset that cost by delivering in our local area where
water bottlers ship heavy bulky water over a much further distance (Fiji water is
bottled where? And Nestle only has so many bottling facilities to cover a large
geographical region). We also believe the slightly higher cost is offset by
knowing the quality of water you are consuming and the sustainable packaging which is better for your body and our planet.

What does pH mean for water?

Arrow

The indicator for acidity or alkalinity is known as the pH value. A pH value of 7
means a substance is neutral, water with a pH lower than 7 is considered acidic
and with a pH greater than 7 water is considered alkaline. The normal range for pH
in surface water systems is 6.5 to 8.5. The range in a Altitude Water AWG is 7.6
to 8.1.

There are two ways to raise the ph in water: ionization and mineralization.

Ionization- Here is the definition from Wikipedia- Ionization, is the process by
which an atom or a molecule acquires a negative or positive charge by gaining or
losing electrons, often in conjunction with other chemical changes. The resulting
electrically charged atom or molecule is called an ion. Ionization can result from
the loss of an electron after collisions with subatomic particles, collisions with
other atoms, molecules and ions, or through the interaction with electromagnetic radiation.

This doesn’t sound so natural to us.

We raise our ph nature’s way by adding minerals Calcium and Magnesium to our water.

The bottom line is we used nature’s way to make the purest, alkaline, highest
oxygenated water- and bottle it in glass and sustainable packaging for your body and the environment. It is why we say we make water with technology licensed from Mother Nature. We guarantee you will taste and feel the difference.

What is the pH level of Altitude Water?

Arrow

Our normal operating pH on average is 8.1. We are in the midst of doing testing on some high pH filter combinations that have successfully maintained a quality of over 10. So we are anticipating we’re going to have those options available in the future.

What maintenance is needed for customers living near the shore, where there’s salt, corrosion, and ocean exposure?

Arrow

Living near the ocean means dealing with high salt levels in the air, which can cause corrosion over time. To protect your machine and extend its lifespan, follow these best practices:

  1. Regular Cleaning:
  • Wipe down the stainless steel components weekly with a cleaner and polish. This adds a protective layer to the surface and helps reduce the impact of salt exposure.
  1. Use High-Quality Materials:
  • Our machines are built with high-grade 304 stainless steel for hardware and cabinets, designed to withstand harsh environments. However, proper maintenance is still essential to maximize longevity.
  1. Rinse with Fresh Water:
  • If possible, rinse the machine with fresh water periodically to remove salt buildup.
  1. Proactive Maintenance:
  • Regularly inspect and maintain the unit to catch any early signs of wear. A little care goes a long way in preserving the equipment.

How long can the machine last near the ocean?

Arrow

Longevity depends on maintenance and environmental factors. With regular care, some customers located right on the shoreline have used their machines for several years without any signs of corrosion. However, neglecting maintenance—like failing to clean or protect the surface—can significantly reduce the lifespan, as salt can be highly corrosive.

How does this compare to other outdoor equipment, like air conditioners?

Arrow

Air conditioning units near the ocean often last less than five years due to salt exposure, especially if not maintained. Unlike those units, our machines are designed with durability in mind, and proper care can help them outlast typical coastal equipment. Regular cleaning and rinsing are key.

By staying proactive and consistent with these maintenance practices, you can ensure the best performance and longevity for your machine in coastal environments.

What is the average lifespan of the technology in a “normal” environment?

Arrow

On average about 10 years.

What is the comparison of Reverse Osmosis to Altitude Water?

Arrow

Both Reverse Osmosis (RO) and Altitude Water have their benefits, but they work very differently and serve distinct purposes. Here’s a comparison:

  • Reverse Osmosis (RO):
  • RO systems filter existing water, attempting to remove chemicals, contaminants, and impurities from a water source such as tap or well water.
  • While effective, RO is not 100% perfect. Certain contaminants, such as PFAS (forever chemicals), can still pass through the membrane. This means the water may still contain some elements that could pose concerns.
  • RO essentially acts as a “band-aid” solution, working to improve water that is already compromised.

RO does nothing to combat biofilm from building up in the tubing or tank

  • Altitude Water:
  • Altitude Water creates water from the air, starting with pure, distilled-quality water. This means the water is free from contaminants, pesticides, PFAS, and other harmful substances from the very beginning.
  • Our process eliminates the need for filtration because the water starts off as pure vapor. Once it condenses into liquid form, we enhance it by adding essential minerals, ensuring it’s clean, healthy, and optimized for drinking.
  • Unlike RO, there’s no risk of residual contaminants because the water is generated in its purest form. It not only keeps the water pure but the tank or tubing where the water is stored or flows through

Key Difference:

Reverse osmosis focuses on filtering and improving existing water, but it can leave trace impurities behind. Altitude Water generates completely pure water from scratch, offering peace of mind that there are no unwanted substances in your drinking water. This makes it a more comprehensive and reliable solution for clean, safe hydration.

Is it true that reverse osmosis (RO) wastes a lot of water?

Arrow

While the exact amount of water waste depends on the specific RO system, most operate with a rejection rate of about 4:1 or 5:1. This means that for every gallon of clean water produced, 4 to 5 gallons of water are released with a higher concentration of contaminants than originally went into the filters.  RO just increases the concentration of contaminants of the water released back into nature.

Key Considerations:

  • The wastewater from RO systems must be handled properly, which can add complexity to their use.
  • For example, one customer in California with high nitrate levels in their water opted against RO because of the wastewater issue and chose Altitude Water technology instead.

Additional Concerns:

  • Even though RO systems remove many contaminants, they aren’t 100% effective. Trace amounts of substances, such as PFAS (forever chemicals), can still pass through.

Why Choose Altitude Water?

Arrow

Altitude Water technology eliminates the need for wastewater entirely. We generate water directly from the air, starting with pure, distilled-quality water that is free from contaminants like PFAS. This makes it a cleaner and more efficient alternative to RO systems.

Can Altitude Water systems be customized for a whole-home setup? What does that involve, and what should I consider?

Arrow

Yes, Altitude Water systems can be customized for a whole-home setup. However, there are several factors to consider:

  • System Evaluation:
  • We’ll need to assess your home’s plumbing system to ensure compatibility with our technology.
  • Plumbing Requirements:
  • Our machines use ozone dissipation as part of the water purification process. Homes with PEX, CPVC, or PVC pipes are suitable for this setup.
  • Homes with copper piping are not ideal due to potential compatibility issues with ozone exposure.
  • Customization and Design:
  • We can design a system to distribute water to various fixtures in your home. The setup will be tailored to your needs and preferences.
  • Cost:
  • The pricing will depend on the size and complexity of the project. A detailed quote can be provided after the evaluation.

If you’re interested in creating a fully customized Altitude Water system for your home, we’d be happy to discuss your needs and design a solution that works for you!

How does the Altitude Water system purify and mineralize water?

Arrow

The process is simple but highly effective and everything is based on how Mother Nature operates. Here’s how it works, step by step, explained simply:

  1. Air Filtration:
  • The system pulls in air and filters out dust and particles, ensuring that only clean air is used to generate water.
  1. Water Generation:
  • The clean air is condensed into water vapor, creating pure water that is similar to distilled water. At this stage, it contains no contaminants or minerals.
  1. Mineralization:
  • The first filter, called a calcite filter, adds beneficial minerals to the water, such as calcium and magnesium. These minerals:
  • Raise the water’s alkalinity.
  • Boost the pH to around 8.1, making the water more alkaline, which is beneficial for the body.
  1. Ozone Injection and Dissipation:
  • The system uses ozone (O₃) to disinfect the water. This ensures any bacteria or impurities are neutralized.
  • After about 20 minutes, the ozone naturally breaks down into oxygen (O₂), leaving the water safe, clean, and free of harmful substances.
  1. Taste and Odor Filtration:
  • The second filter, a carbon block filter, removes any remaining odors or tastes. It doesn’t add or remove minerals—it’s there to ensure the water is fresh and pleasant to drink.

Result:

The final water is pure, mineralized, and slightly alkaline, making it healthy, clean, and refreshing. The system is designed to provide the best quality water with minimal maintenance and maximum benefit.
